The Koita Foundation believes that lasting change is rooted in strong, collaborative partnerships. It works hand-in-hand with organisations and changemakers- offering not just funding, but also strategic support and access to a powerful network.
The Foundation's approach is simple yet impactful: co-create digital transformation programs, incubate "digital capacity" within partner organisations, and empower partners to innovate, grow, and sustain change- long after its involvement ends.
Digital Transformation and AI can enable NGOs to have non-linear impact on their ability to scale and serve their beneficiaries.
Rekha Koita,
Founder-Director
Since 2016, Koita Foundation-founded by Rekha and Rizwan Koita-has partnered with mission-driven NGOs across India to help them scale their impact through digital innovation. Despite over 3 million registered NGOs in the country, a vast majority remain small, under-resourced, and constrained by legacy processes and limited capacity for growth.
Recognizing this gap, Rekha Koita leveraged her background in technology and business transformation to launch the Foundation’s early efforts, working closely with a few NGOs willing to embrace change and leverage digital transformation. These initial partnerships laid the foundation for a broader movement. Today, Koita Foundation has worked with over 25 NGOs, helping them adopt digital tools, strengthen internal capabilities, and build the foundation for sustained transformation.
Our Focus
To further strengthen this ecosystem, in 2025, Koita Foundation co-created the Koita Centre for Digital Transformation in collaboration with India Leaders for Social Sector (ILSS)-a dedicated knowledge hub helping NGOs accelerate their digital journey.
Digital Health transformation in India needs strong and consistent focus on 4 key dimensions - innovation, adoption, education and regulation.
Rizwan Koita,
Founder-Director
In 2021, Rizwan Koita transitioned from his role as Co-Founder and CEO of CitiusTech, India’s leading Digital Health company, to focus full-time on philanthropy, bringing his deep expertise in healthcare technology to the Koita Foundation. This shift marked a bold new direction for the Foundation-expanding into Digital Health with a strategy guided by four pillars in Digital Health: Innovation, Adoption, Education, and Regulation.
Koita Foundation collaborates with government bodies, academic institutions, and national health organizations to promote the adoption of digital health solutions across India. The goal is to help shape a healthcare system that is digital, inclusive, and sustainable.
Our Digital Health Milestones:
Koita Foundation recognizes that the digital transformation of healthcare in India is a gradual, long-term process-and remains deeply committed to supporting its growth in the years ahead.
We don’t just support partners-we help them build the muscle to thrive on their own.
Surabhi Goel,
COO-Digital Health
Koita Foundation follows a collaborative partnership model designed to help organizations transition from dependence to independence. The focus is on empowering partners to lead their own digital transformation efforts over time, with structured support in both the early and growth stages.
Key elements of our approach:
Our partnership approach is designed to enable our partners to build strong internal teams and capabilities - critical for them to manage and sustain their digital initiatives independently over time.
