A patient education initiative
Given the vast complexity of healthcare, disparity of education and access across the country, strong patient education is a key success factor for enhancing quality of healthcare in India. Nevertheless, it is difficult and complicated to develop scalable clinically validated, localized, multi-lingual and accessible patient education content. A patient in Kerala and a patient in Uttar Pradesh may share a diagnosis, but rarely share a language, a diet, or the same access to care. Content that works for one can quietly fail the other. The emergence of new Digital & AI technologies now makes it possible for us to bridge this gap in India.
VISHWAS (Videos to Support Health, Wellness, Awareness & Self-care) is an open-source patient education initiative which attempts to leverage Digital & AI technologies to deliver high-quality, clinically approved, multilingual and culturally relevant patient education content. VISHWAS videos are designed to support self-care, informed decision-making, improve treatment adherence, and simplify complex medical information into easy-to-understand formats.
VISHWAS videos have been developed in partnership with National Cancer Grid (NCG) and Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI), in cancer and diabetes respectively. Every VISHWAS video is clinically reviewed by NCG Oncologists or RSSDI diabetologists and is freely accessible to hospitals, clinics, patients, and caregivers across India. These videos fill that gap with structured, trustworthy education, in their own language, on their own phone, whenever they need it.

Content is developed in English, Hindi, Marathi and Tamil, with each language independently reviewed by Subject Matter Experts (SME) for clinical accuracy. These are hosted on the official NCG* and RSSDI YouTube channels, with more disease areas and languages in the making.

Patient education is most useful when it is available where patients already seek care and information. VISHWAS is therefore designed to work across the healthcare ecosystem - from hospitals and clinics to public health programmes, digital health platforms and partner channels.
Integrating VISHWAS into existing healthcare channels and workflows allows clinician-validated education to reach patients and caregivers at multiple points in their care journey - from diagnosis, treatment, to everyday management at home.
Hospitals & Clinics
Hospitals, and clinics networks can introduce patients to relevant VISHWAS videos through point of-care materials, QR codes and direct digital sharing.
Community Outreach
State and district health programmes, ASHAs, ANMs, health camps and community initiatives can use VISHWAS to extend trusted content into communities.
Digital Health Systems
Videos can be integrated into EMRs, HIS platforms and clinic management systems, allowing relevant education to become part of existing clinical workflows.
Partner Ecosystems
Insurance platforms, e-pharmacies and other patient-facing healthcare partners can help extend the reach of VISHWAS beyond traditional points of care.
